I’m sure you’ve seen me drift before; I’m lost somewhere else
I can’t hear anything at all
I try to find my way back between the roar of inexistence and eddies of uncertainty
I’ll step back from the tangle I’ve been nursing
And the only thing that I can turn to now is you

You can call it an anomaly, call it what you will
But there’s not enough of it to go around so let’s make something of our own
Bring me down to earth or carry me past the point of no return
You’re afraid that you cannot come back once we’ve crossed the threshold
But being afraid to go is worse than being unable to turn around.
The fact remains, and so do we, hovering on the brink of doubt
Watch the clouds vacillate in grey masses above us,
Hesitating before they open up and passion spills as liquid from the somber skies
I’m not afraid to cry again, because nothing gets done if we leave it all to fate
The hands of time lie idle, the instruments of darkness that they are
Don’t let this false friend wile away our time
Win us with soothing trifles, because we are afraid to betray each other and afraid to reap the consequence.
Have we both become so selfless we’ve forgotten who we are?
Make a bet and place the wager, and we’ll risk the world
Because nothing else matters

You’re posed on the sunset as the darkness creeps in
You hear the night falling down on you? Can you hear the day breaking trust?
Your life isn’t how it used to be.
You watch control slip through your fingers, you become a passenger
Let me steer for once
If you believe in anything, believe in me - I know a shortcut where we can be alone.
Don’t cry tonight, though the road has torn apart your shoes,
If you’re not sure if your best foot forward will carry you the distance, I want to be there
To help you fight back the encompassing waters,
To help you dispel the beast that comes from darkness,
These mad shadows would take us with them if they could
Do you feel like we’re inside the burning house?
We could be pleading to the mirror, but I’d rather cling to you
I’d rather have us hand in hand in the inferno of our lives
Our words being drowned out by the apocalyptic roar
Than to die in separate rooms as the floorboards sigh beneath shifting feet
As we watch the clock dance and unwind until midnight
Afraid to blink and miss a moment, afraid to rest - lest we regret
Maybe you can’t make up your mind, and maybe we’ll never know for sure
But since when has that stopped you? Just come as you are

There are some great ideas and images in this and it is full of emotion. I especially liked the line: Than to die in separate rooms as the floorboards sigh beneath shifting feet. I did feel a bit overwhelmed by such a lot of different images in one poem, but since they are good ones you could maybe try shortening this poem, keeping those things that go together best, and re-using the others again elsewhere. Only a suggestion! You can come back at me on that. lol

For personal reasons, I can't change the poem, it means alot to me as it is. I have a bad habit of swifting images so you end up with a pre-death slide-show kind experience, which is a bit much. I'll consider working on this in the future,

Are you worried about your faith? Kneel down and obey!
You're happy you're in love, but you need someone to hate,

But ordinary's just not good enough today

I feel the same way about my poems. They are what they are, and I'd rather go write a new poem than change one that I've finished.
